Trent precast used to clad another high quality apartment development
Following on from several other recent contracts on high quality urban residential developments, Trent Concrete has been awarded the precast cladding contract by the principal contractor, Carillion Building, for a new City Loft Developments apartment scheme at Princes Dock in Liverpool.
Trent's contract covers 4000 square metres of white reconstructed Portland stone cladding panels for the 162 apartment development in two linked 10 and 20 storey towers. The units are predominantly 5.2m long spandrel panels and two-storey high column casings, with additional curved units on the feature wall of the building which links the two towers.
This large panel scheme will ensure early enclosure of a weatherproof envelope, which releases interiors for fitting out work sooner and speeds up overall construction time. Trent Concrete has found that this adaptable precast system is gaining increasing recognition in the high quality apartment development sector. The key benefits it delivers in this market are: the guaranteed quality and accuracy of finish befitting the high-profile nature of the developments; the certainty of programme and cost which are top priorities when apartments are often sold 'off plan'; and the minimisation of site work and disruption which is so important for city centre residential developments.
The Princes Dock development is adjacent to the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool, and overlooks the River Mersey. Trent starts on site in January 2005 on a 21-week programme.
