Trent Concrete secures another contract in Ireland

Trent Concrete has secured the latest in a series of precast concrete cladding contracts in Ireland, at the new headquarters for Limerick County Council at Dooradoyle in County Limerick.

The £210,000 contract covers spandrel bands and structural columns, in a white reconstructed stone mix with Spanish dolomite for additional sparkle. The cladding panels incorporate a unique lightshelf, cantilevered from the face of the spandrel, which forms an integral part of the low energy philosophy of the building. The lightshelf "bounces" daylight onto the exposed ribbed slab of the office interiors, giving diffuse light across the open plan office space. Trent's in-house team of engineers were closely involved in the detailed design of this feature. The exposed shelf will also be treated with a special weathering application to protect it from the elements.

This is Trent's second project in Ireland with architects Bucholz McEvoy, who also designed the Welcoming Pavilions at the government buildings in Dublin which featured Trent's GRC cladding panels.

Trent has also supplied the cladding for two office developments on the Sandyford industrial estate near Dublin.
