Trent Concrete and Carillion partner for sixth time
Trent Concrete is partnering with Carillion Building for the sixth time on a new office development at Farnborough Business Park in Hampshire.
Trent's £280,000 contract covers 1100 square metres of slate grey acid-etched cladding to a high-quality office building that has been designed to last 120 years. Trent was able to meet this lifetime requirement with its standard precast concrete specification as used on all projects.
The feature panels are typically 2.9 metres in length and 2.1 metres in height, and are used to clad shear walls to lift, stairway and service cores which form a predominant feature within the entrance and atrium of the building. Trent is using a special fixing mechanism, Halfen FPA, to fix the units to the in-situ concrete shear walls. Supports are drilled into the wall with their reinforcement stirrups hanging down ready to secure the panel from the back.
Trent is the first UK company to use this fixing method, originally used on the replacement cladding of the BT Tower podium. Trent starts on site in April for a 7 week installation period.
