Trent works on two Nottingham regeneration projects

Trent Concrete is working on two landmark projects in its home-town of Nottingham. The Trinity Square Development and Litmus Building both form part of the ongoing regeneration of Nottingham city centre.

The Trinity Square Development is a mixed-use development incorporating retail, leisure, residential and car parking over two blocks.

Trent's £1.35m contract covers a wide variety of cladding units, which feature extensively across the two buildings. These include white reconstructed stone column casings (600 metres), in fill cladding panels (595 square metres), header units over door openings (211 square metres), coping and capping units (180 metres), 'goal posts' over retail units (202 metres) and 250 square metres of ashlar cladding.

The precast is being used to create a series of 'frames' to create visual interest, scale and a strong vertical rhythm to the elevations. The selection of precast was also influenced by its favourable programme and quality advantages. Trent starts on site in July for a 23-week programme.

The Litmus Building is a Lace Market Properties upmarket 13-storey apartment development on Huntingdon Street, and is named for its design which incorporates coloured fins giving a litmus paper effect.

Trent's £1.16m contract covers the supply of 270 white reconstructed stone precast concrete balcony units, with an additional 200 square metres of matching parapet panels and 457 square metres of GRC (glass reinforced concrete) cladding panels. The GRC units clad the gable ends of the balcony fins and end bays of the rear elevation which are set back underneath the main structure - GRC provides the same durability and quality of finish as precast concrete, but is lighter weight and therefore ideal for use in areas which are more difficult to access. Trent is delivering units to site on a just-in-time basis over a 39 week period.
