Trent is all white for Liverpool’s first Hilton
Sparkling white reconstructed stone cladding from Trent Concrete, specially selected for its exceptional brilliance and clean aesthetics, will ensure Liverpool's first ever Hilton Hotel will become a landmark building for the city.
As part of dramatic £920m scheme on the historic Mersey waterfront, the 10 storey, state of the art hotel will be one of the largest and most striking features of Grosvenor's massive Liverpool One mixed-use development.
Under its £2.5m contract, Trent will be manufacturing more than 6,500 square metres of reconstructed White Portland Stone cladding. A whiter than white Spanish Dolomite finish will also give the building an added sparkle - and really make it stand out in a crowd.
The main wall panels will be made in two storey (7m) heights, with a mullion effect used vertically to visually stretch the building. Meanwhile, fascia beams will cross the panels horizontally every second storey.
On the gable ends of the hotel's side elevations, structural columns and beams from Trent will give the building added stability - proving precast can offer much more than simply breathtaking aesthetics.
Finally, an impressive white colonnade will greet visitors approaching the hotel's luxurious lobby.
With a site time of only 21 weeks, Trent will be producing all the cladding for the Liverpool Hilton using its innovative off site construction methods. This guarantees the finished products will be ready for delivery on a just in time basis and fixed to the structure directly from the trailer, obviating the need for costly scaffolding and associated site preliminaries.
The 216 room, crescent shaped hotel, designed by Michael Squires and Aedas Architects, will be based in Canning Place, opposite the historic Albert Dock.
Aedas Architects, which has worked with Trent Concrete on many high profile projects such as Belvedere in Manchester and Hadley School in Telford, approached the company to design the eye catching concrete cladding to complement the Hilton's sleek, modern look.
The Nottingham-based firm specialises in creating bespoke solutions that offer designers unprecedented creative freedom, using an affordable and highly durable product.
Trent's work on Grosvenor's Liverpool Hilton project is due to begin early next year.
