Reconstructed Stone

A top quality concrete with aggregates selection and mix design to procure a colour and texture that resembles natural stones. Reconstructed stone is often very much stronger than natural stones of similar appearance often referred to as reconstituted stone.

Refurbishment

Precast panels have been used on several refurbishment projects in recent years.

Reinforcement

Reinforcement is prefabricated to high standards of accuracy and robustness. Great care is taken to ensure cover is consistently achieved.

Remedial Work

Whilst great care is taken to avoid damage, effective remedial measures are in place and can be called upon to repair damage caused on site by following trades.

Repairs

Effective permanent repair solutions are available when needed.

Repetition

The number of like units. Lack of repetition is the major cause of cost escalation in precast production. When repeatability drops below 10, costs increase rapidly.

Restraint Fixing

A mechanical device using angles, threaded studs, nuts and washers to fix the panel to the structure. A panel has four restraint fixings near to panel corners.

Retarder

A proprietary mould treatment, which delays the hardening of cement in contact to allow the surface to be washed, once demoulded, to expose the aggregate. Retarders are available in colour coded grades to give progressive retarding effect.

Return

A corner. The best detail is to cast a panel with a return end to avoid complicated mitres. The return end should be limited to a maximum 0.5m.

Reveal

The sides of a window opening.

RHPC

Rapid Hardening Portland Cement. See OPC.

Rustication

Features on the surface of a façade, such as false joints.
