Natural Stone

Both BS: 8297 and BS: 8298 cover natural stone veneer on precast panels. A variety of stones is used from all over the world. The centre for international stone preparation is Carrara in Italy, although stones are sourced in France and Germany. Granites and "hard" stones are cut to 30mm minimum thickness. British stones are highly varied – popular ones are Portland and Bath. These are not classed as hard stone and are cut to 50mm minimum thickness (see Stone faced cladding).
