GA

General Arrangement drawing – the key to managing design development.

Galvanised Steel

Mild steel hot dipped in zinc. Occasionally used for secondary structural members, although zinc is a sacrificial protection material.

Gasket

A preformed joint seal in a variety of proprietary forms. They have limited joint width tolerance and movement accommodation. Hence, they are rarely used.

Granite

A 30mm thick veneer of natural granite has been used extensively on precast panels.

GRC

Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete.

Grit Blast

A technique to expose the main aggregate to form a textured finish using hard grit carried in a high pressure water jet. Can be used to create two distinct finishes on a single panel.

Ground Finish

The surface is ground to section the aggregate. Honed and semi polished finishes can be achieved by careful aggregate selection.

Grout

A high strength cement/fine aggregate with additives to produce a pourable material. Used for bedding under baseplates, etc.

GRP

Glass Reinforced Plastic is used to form seamless mould liners or complete moulds for small 3 dimension cast units.

Gun Applied

Wet sealants are gun applied on to backing rods to form weather tight joints.
